Subaru has a suite of driver assistance technology called EyeSight. Many of the features in this suite are standard in theĀ 2025 Subaru Legacy, making it an extremely safe vehicle to drive. These features help you prevent accidents, stay aware of what’s happening around the car, and stay safe when you’re reversing.
5 Safety Features of the 2025 Subaru Legacy
1. Blind Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert
Blind Spot Detection sends you an alert if there’s a car lurking in your blind spot. The Lane Change Assist function comes into play when you signal that you intend to change lanes. It scans the area that you can’t see and then informs you if there’s a car in the next lane that’s approaching at a higher speed than you’re driving at.
The Rear Cross Traffic Alert feature of the Blind Spot Detection activates when you’re reversing. If there’s a pedestrian, cyclist, or vehicle approaching from the side while you’re backing up, then your Subaru will send you a visual and audible alert. It’ll tell you what side the object is approaching from, too. The feature works even if you can’t see the obstacle.
2. Reverse Automatic Emergency Braking
It can be difficult to gauge how close you are to obstacles while you’re backing up, so your Subaru has a function that can help prevent collisions with anything you’re in danger of bumping into.
Your Legacy will alert you if you’re getting too close to an obstacle behind you, giving you time to apply the brakes before you back into something. Your car can then automatically apply the brakes to help prevent a collision if you don’t act in time.
3. Pre-Collision Braking System
Your Legacy can help you prevent collisions in front of your car as well as behind it. EyeSight makes sure to scan the road in front of you and then sends you an alert if there’s a high chance that you’ll crash into the car in front of you. The vehicle then automatically engages the brakes if you don’t step on the brake pedal quickly enough.
4. Pre-Collision Throttle Management
When your Legacy detects that you’re at risk of colliding with the car in front of you, it can then reduce the amount of power that’s being sent to your engine. This aims to help you slow down, allowing more time for you to respond to a potential collision when you’re driving at low speeds.
5. Automatic Emergency Steering
If a collision is likely, and your vehicle determines braking won’t help you avoid it, then it’ll engage Automatic Emergency Steering. The car will attempt to steer itself to safety to avoid the collision.
