Celebrate the season at the annual Shelby Forest Spring Fest in the beautiful Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park at 910 Riddick Road in Millington, 15 miles from Memphis, in mid-April between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Bring lawn chairs, blankets, and your leased four-legged friend, and enjoy the day outdoors with your family and friends.

2. Rajun Cajun Crawfish Festival 

In mid-April, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Riverside Drive in Downtown Memphis is a buzzing hub of excitement when thousands of happy and hungry festival-goers turn up for the Rajun Cajun Crawfish Festival, a beloved 30-year-old institution in Memphis. There’s a whole lot of crawfish eating going on, but also exciting games like crawfish racing and bobbing and, of course, live music on three stages played by well-known musicians.

Be sure to swing by the VIP Tent for all-you-can-eat crawfish and the exciting play zone for kids under 12, where your kiddos will be thoroughly entertained.  

3. Beale Street Music Festival

Head to Tom Lee Park on Riverside Drive in Downtown Memphis on May 5, 6, and 7 at 5 p.m. for the annual Beale Street Music Festival. Listen to an unmatched lineup of 60 world-class acts, including headliners and legends performing music spanning every genre across four stages, from Robert Plant and Earth, Wind and Fire to The Lumineers and Alison Krauss.

With an eclectic lineup of superstars, great food, and a fantastic Memphis vibe, this festival is not to be missed. 

4. World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest

With over 101 barbecue joints, Memphis is the world’s barbecue capital and, of course, home to the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest, recognized by USAToday as the “Most Prestigious Barbecue Contest.”

On May 17 to 20, the smell of barbecue will fill the air in Tom Lee Park when barbecue masters will be hard at work creating the world’s best barbecue to compete for the World Champion title. There’s heaps of delicious food, and if you’re lucky, you can get excellent recipes and cooking tips from the barbecue teams.
